The former national chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) has expressed strong confidence in the party’s potential to transform Ghana’s destiny within 12 months.
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Peduase, Mr McManu highlighted the ability of the NPP to bring about positive changes in the country in the run-up to the 2024 general elections.
Asked if his party still maintains its ambition to “break out of the eight parties,” given that the 2024 general election is about a year away, Mr McManu responded positively, saying that the oft-mentioned He said he was inspired by the words of British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. As the “Iron Lady” she once famously stated that “a week is a long time in politics.”
He stressed that with over a year left until the 2024 elections, the NPP has the potential to achieve its goals, given the positive changes taking place in various aspects of governance.
Mr McManu stressed the vital importance of unity within the party, claiming it was a fundamental element for electoral success. He therefore urged NPP member states to work together as a united front to increase the chances of achieving the objectives in the next elections.
He noted that many sectors of Ghana’s economy are gradually recovering from recent challenges and shocks, and expressed optimism for the future, predicting that various aspects of the country would improve in the run-up to the 2024 general elections. I told him my point of view.
One area of particular importance to Manu was the performance of Ghana’s Cedi, which he said was going very well. He also highlighted progress in education, healthcare, infrastructure development and industrialization as encouraging signs of progress.
Chairman Cocobod stressed that he was optimistic about the NPP’s efforts to realize the “Break the Eight Nations” agenda in the upcoming elections, urging NPP member states to put aside their differences and fight against the nation. He called for unity around a common goal and vision. He also called for a voice in communicating the party’s achievements and its transformative impact on Ghana to the general public.
