Ahead of the climactic quarter-finals of the 2023 National Science Mathematics Quiz (NSMQ), Presec Legon supporters were confident they could easily secure the last spot in the semi-finals.
However, Tuesday night witnessed a fierce clash of intelligence and knowledge that challenged their expectations as they faced strong opposition from Accra Academy and GSTS.
The first match was held in an atmosphere filled with anticipation and excitement.
Presek Legon made it through the first round with 28 points and maintained a narrow lead, while Accra Academy were close behind with 26 points. Meanwhile, GSTS accumulated 11 points.
Accra Academy showed their determination by not allowing defeat easily in the second round.
Despite their hard work, they finished the second round seven points behind Presek, with a total of 33 points.

In the third round, “Question of the Day,” Plesek scored 7 points, while his opponents managed to score 5 points each.
Unfortunately, the fourth round turned out to be a difficult one for Accra Academy, giving Plesek the opportunity to extend his lead or face an upset.
Plesek seized the moment and scored a total of 60 points, followed by Accra Academy and GSTS with 48 and 31 points respectively.
Accra Academy tried to prove themselves by answering riddles in the final round to score another 10 points. However, despite his efforts, he was unable to get past Plesek, who clinched the victory with three more points.

Accra Academy’s performance in this quarter-final competition earned a well-deserved applause from the quiz queen.
As 2023 quarter-finalists, they, along with GSTS, have already secured a spot in the 2024 edition of the competition.
