The Chief Justice said the fundamental freedoms and rights guaranteed and provided for in the country’s Constitution are not self-enforcing and require diligent professionals to properly interpret and protect them.
“As a lawyer, you need to be part of the conduit through which justice is pursued and delivered in this complex environment. Remember that a lawyer’s greatest asset is his reputation.
“Damaged reputations can not only damage an individual’s career, but also undermine the credibility of the legal profession and its ability to keep society on a legitimate trajectory.”
