Former Auditor-General Daniel Domelevo has rubbished rumors that he is running as John Mahama’s running mate in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) election.
Mr Domelevo said he was more interested in ensuring accountability than party politics.

in TV XYZ interviewhe declared that he was not a “political animal.”
Mr Domelevo also said that because of his penchant for accountability, he would even criticize the political party he was planning to campaign for.

Sam Jonah denies rumors of running for vice president
Businessman Sam Jonah previously denied claims that he was being considered as Mr Mahama’s running mate in the 2024 election.
The businessman also revealed that he even turned down former President Jerry John Rawlings’ offer to be his running mate in the past.
Sam Jonah said that Ghanaian politics is messy and stressed that he is not interested in Ghanaian politics.
Mahama’s former vice presidential candidate
Mr Mahama partnered with former Minister of Education, Professor Jane Nana Opoku Agyemang in the 2020 elections but lost.
Although Mr Mahama is favored to win power, some analysts have warned that retaining Professor Opoku Agyemang as his running mate could have a negative impact on the NDC in 2024.

Mahama returns to lead NDC
Former President Mahama won the NDC presidential primary election held in May 2023 with overwhelming confidence.
Mahama voted 297,603 votes During the primary election, it accounted for 98.9%.
In the primaries, Mr. Mahama contested against former Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly leader, Mr. Kojo Bonsu.
Prior to the primaries, a third candidate, former Minister of Finance Dr. Kwabena Dafuor, withdrew from the race on the eve of the election.
