Erling Haaland and Lionel Messi are the frontrunners for the Ballon d’Or on Monday, while the winners of the Ballon d’Or Feminin, Yashin Trophy and Kopa Trophy will also be announced.
The 67th Ballon d’Or ceremony will take place on Monday afternoon, with Erling Haaland and Lionel Messi among the favorites to claim football’s most coveted individual prize.
Haaland scored an impressive 52 goals in 53 appearances for Manchester City last season, winning the Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup along the way. Meanwhile, Messi lifted the World Cup with Argentina before moving to Inter Miami from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer.
In addition to the Ballon d’Or, the winner of the Women’s Ballon d’Or will also be announced by organizers France Football. Barcelona and Spain star Aitana Bonmati is hot favorite to win the award, while Millie Bright, Rachel Daly, Georgia Stanway and Mary Earps are the English contenders.
The Yashin Trophy will also be presented at the ceremony in Paris. This award is given to the best goalkeeper in the world, with Andre Onana, Aaron Ramsdale and Ederson all involved. There is a fourth main prize to be won, the Kopa Trophy, which is awarded to the best under-21 player.
