Buem Constituency Member of Parliament Kofi Adams has said the National Democratic Congress (NDC) will not be complacent heading into the 2024 general elections.
Mr Adams said this would be done despite the poor performance of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and its flag bearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
speak at Joy News AM Showa former national organizer of the NDC, said that while the party’s standard bearers can be trusted to fulfill their promises to Ghanaians, the NPP has developed a cunning ability to wrap up rags and sell it to Ghanaians. .
He explained that the party needs to educate voters on how government policies directly impact them.
“NDC has leaders we can trust. Leaders who have produced results and will continue to produce results are not leaders who start a conversation and then say the opposite.
“The economy is important, but we are not going to be complacent. Certainly, we are concerned about how government decisions directly impact the public, and how the government’s refusal to pay contractors impacts the public.” Everything needs to be explained to the public so that they have a better understanding of what is to be given.” Below there.
“The candidates and political parties we deal with know how to package rags, wrap them very nicely, seal them tightly and sell them for money, but they don’t go home and buy rags. I know that I will notice something.
“But you may have real gold, but people will walk past you and reject what you have because you didn’t package it properly,” he said. I emphasized.
Mr Adams was optimistic that the 2024 election would be decided by comparing the performance of the country’s two major political parties.
“Unemployment rate was around 8.4% under NDC, now it is 14% and youth employment is even worse at 42%. Do you think they’ll use orthodox means? And in this poor performance, we’ve had a lot of things happen in their favor.
“The Bank of Ghana alone provided them with over 45 billion in 2022, while the amount given to NDC in 2016 was zero, the Bank of Ghana provided the funds free of charge.
“Therefore, there is no problem regarding Bawumia as it is a comparison of records.”
The NDC MP’s assertion comes in the wake of the election of Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia as the governing flag bearer of the NPP.
Out of about 210,000 delegates, Dr Bawumia received 118,210 votes while his front-runner, Asin Central MP Ken Agyapong, received 71,996 votes.
With his victory, Dr Bawumia will face former President John Dramani Mahama, who won the support of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) earlier this year.
