The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has appointed a record 292 officers to the Ghana Military Academy (GMA) in Accra with 62 regular vocational enrollments.
The number was the highest in GMA history, with 217 men and 75 women, including 168 army cadets, 57 naval cadets, and 67 aviation cadets.
They included experts in a variety of research fields from across the country.

During the training, which lasted eight months instead of the usual six, officers were exposed to extensive physical and psychological conditioning.
They participated in a variety of discipline and tactical exercises, including training in leadership, social, moral and spiritual values.
They also embarked on an exercise at the Jungle Warfare School in Athiase, Eastern Region.
Seven cadets were selected for external courses in the UK and Germany.
At yesterday’s graduation ceremony, Senior Officer Awotui Jacob Vanderpuy was awarded the Sword of Honor as the best overall cadet.
The Academic Cane Award was presented to Petty Officer George Delari Kupodo, while Petty Officer Esther Frimpong received the Military Cane Award.
Award
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, who was the judge of the parade, commended the cadets for their brilliant display of smart and well-coordinated training and formation.
He said the troops’ response to the parade commander’s orders was a reflection of the high level of training they had received.
“The credit for this feat goes first to the GAF Command, the Commandant of the Ghana Military Academy and Training School, and the dedication and sacrifice of these cadets to transform them into quality officers and their assignments to serve the Ghanaian Armed Forces. “The development of GAF is given to stylist instructors who are ready to do it,” the president said.
protection of territorial integrity
President Akufo-Addo also said the government is resolutely taking steps to protect territorial integrity and national security.
He said that in line with its mandate, the government had recently approved a number of measures towards expanding GAF.
This includes the promulgation of new facilities and units such as the National Defense University and the 12 Mechanized Battalion.
The President added that the Directorate General of Military Records and Public Relations has also been upgraded to a department, while the Air Force Command Support and Brigade Group in Burma Camp and the GAF Medical Corps have also been expanded.
He further said that the prominent threats in the north of the country necessitate the establishment of forward operating bases and logistics bases along the entire northern border.
President Akufo-Addo said that so far, the government has signed contracts for the construction of 12 forward operating bases and three logistics bases to help contain these threats across the northern frontier.
He assured that adequate personnel and logistics would be available for work at the operational base, which is in various stages of completion.
