The Asantehene’s appeal for support to renovate the 70-year-old Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital is bearing fruit as individuals and corporate institutions continue to donate to the effort.
Director of Communications Kwame Frimpong said the hospital is halfway through the estimated $10 million needed to renovate the facility.

The hospital’s main wards have not been renovated and some parts of the building are defective.
Kwame Frimpong, director of communications, said the hospital had received pledges and donations worth half of an estimated $10 million.
He spoke to reporters after OFI Ghana donated 300,000 Ghana cedis to support the initiative.
“We have received pledges and donations from individuals, reaching half of our goal for this initiative. Some came through Momo, others through bank details we made public. At this time. “Contributions continue,” he said.
OFI Ghana Vice President and Head of Procurement, Jonas Cueno, called on institutions to donate funds to support the renovation project.
“As a company with staff across the country, we have decided to donate 300,000 credits to support this initiative, as it will make hospitals better suited for patients and also contribute to improved healthcare delivery. ” he said.
The renovations are expected to make the hospital more prepared for emergencies.
