Ethiopian Airlines has banned passengers from using the iconic ‘Ghana-Must-Go’ on any of its flights from Nigeria.
The restriction was disclosed in a letter to the Regional Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria.
The letter said the Ghana-Must-Go baggage has cost the airlines huge losses and damaged the conveyor belt system on various flights.
He said he would allow Ghana-Must-Go bags when they are well packed in rectangular sized hard cover cartons.

The sack-like bag earned the nickname “Ghana-Must-Go” in 1983 when Nigeria deported an estimated two million undocumented West African migrants, half of whom were from Ghana.
Many evictees from Ghana packed their belongings into check-in luggage, later called “Ghana Must Go” bags.
Visa exemption for South Africa
In a separate story, the governments of Ghana and South Africa signed a visa waiver agreement for their passport holders.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the waiver agreement will take effect from November 1, 2023.
The agreement will allow Ghanaians to stay in South Africa for up to 90 days without a visa.
Visa applications online
The South African government has allowed Ghanaians to apply for a visa online.
The South African High Commission said Ghanaians could visit the portal of the Ministry of Home Affairs of the Republic of South Africa.
UNHCR said requirements such as passport details, letter of invitation, proof of residence and bank statement still apply and will be verified on arrival.

UK to raise immigration fees
The UK has increased immigration and nationality fees.
YEN.com.gh said there would be an increase of up to 35% in the cost of UK visas for Ghanaians and other prospective migrants.
Ghanaians applying for a student visa from outside the UK will pay £127 extra after increasing to £490.
