President Akufo-Addo has advised newly elected New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidates in “orphan” constituencies to maintain moderation in their celebrations.
He stressed that it is critical to maintain restraint to garner the support of his colleagues and ensure victory for the NPP in the upcoming 2024 general elections.
He also encouraged them to extend support to the party’s presidential candidate for the 2024 elections, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, to break the eight-year electoral cycle.

“I therefore urge all winners to be generous in their celebrations and work hard to include those who were not successful.
“Through this, we will build a formidable united front that will enable us to face the difficult 2024 elections with quiet confidence under the leadership of our new and worthy presidential candidate, Dr. Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia. We will build. Almighty God, break down the 8. This is the fervent wish of all NPP members and indeed all Ghanaians of good will.”
The party held primaries on December 2nd and 3rd in 111 constituencies with no incumbent members.
The election produced winners such as Dr. Bernard Oko-Boi, who secured the NPP’s parliamentary candidacy in Ledzokuku constituency after losing his seat in 2020.
Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the National Youth Authority, Akosua Manu, emerged as the winner in the Adentan primary, while her colleague, Pius Enam Hajide, emerged victorious in the Asuogiyaman constituency.
