Leon shared that his father’s life was cut short in a fatal shooting, the result of an alleged dispute over money. Edwards shared a very close relationship with his father and his loss left him devastated.
The incident made Edwards consider turning to the same life, but for his mother who enrolled him in an MMA gym when he was 16. He loved the sport and it kept him away from street crimes. Now, Edwards is giving back to his community by starting gyms that keep youth away from a life of crime.
The same BBC report recently found its way onto Reddit. Fans in the comments section were happy with Edwards, recognizing him as a true people’s champion. According to the clip’s description, he focused these gyms in dangerous areas known for knife crime, to keep the kids there away from it.
The young participants can be seen explaining how Edwards is focused on keeping them away from a dangerous life. They also consider him a good coach who instills values of discipline in them. Fans on Reddit couldn’t help but pat ‘Rocky’ on the back with their comments.
