Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey has been left out of Ghana’s 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) squad due to injury.
Parti, 30, has been sidelined since October with a hamstring problem.
“This is the biggest injury he’s had,” Black Stars coach Chris Hughton said.
“The most important thing for me as a coach and our association is to give him the support he needs in this period of time.
“Despite his injury, he would definitely be in the team.”
Brighton right-back Tariq Lambei also misses out through injury, but West Ham midfielder Mohamed Quds, Bournemouth striker Antoine Semeneu and Leicester City defender Daniel Amartey are all in the 27-man squad.
Captain Andre Ayew, now at French club Le Havre, is set to take part in a record-equalling eighth Afcon final.
However, PAOK left-back Baba Rahman has ruled himself out to focus on fitness, while winger Abdul Fatawu, who is on loan at Leicester from Sporting, is also absent.
The 2023 Afcon finals start on January 13 and end with the final on February 11, and Ghana have been drawn in Group B alongside Egypt, Cape Verde and Mozambique.
Former Newcastle and Brighton boss Hughton took charge of Ghana, who won the most recent of their four Afcon titles in 1982, in February last year.
