The 75th New Year School and Conference opened with a call to all to seize the opportunities provided by the digital space to enhance sustainable development and economic growth. Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia made the call and said βthe government’s digital agenda over the years has yielded positive results through the various digital initiatives. It is for this reason that the government is committed to establishing the Digital Youth Village at the University of Ghana.”
Hosted by the University of Ghana’s School of Continuing and Distance Education, the annual New Year School and Conference, which marks its 75th year, focuses on Nurturing Resilience: Adopting Technology and Embracing Humanism for Sustainable Development.
The conference, which is designed to address the challenges facing institutions, will also highlight the importance of building resilience, leveraging technology and promoting human values ββand dignity.
Vice president Bawumia he said that the growth of an economy depends on using technology to change the way things are done.
The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ghana, Prof. Nana Aba Appiah-Amfo, said the University has in recent years harnessed technology to enhance teaching and learning, stressing that the theme for the 75th School New Year is in line with the University’s effort to embrace digital transformation in the country. She shed more light on some ongoing projects.
The Chairman of the Annual New Year School Corporate Advisory Group, Samuel Okudzeto, while commending the government for its assistance over the years, called for support to help build the technology village for the university.
The results of the three-day conference discussions will be documented and presented to relevant authorities for possible policy interventions, ensuring that the wealth of knowledge shared during the event is translated into actionable initiatives.
