This annual Christmas season, MTN Ghana is once again bringing smiles to the faces of hundreds of mothers across the country.
The company gave 500 baskets to mothers of newborns born on Christmas Day and Boxing Day. The presentation, which took place across the country on December 26, was led by MTN Ghana staff. MTN volunteers took time during the holidays to visit 30 hospitals in all 16 regions and distribute gifts to mothers.
The basket contained diapers, blankets, wipes, shawls, towels, bibs, clothing, toiletries, and other baby essentials, as well as air time for each mother.
Adwoa Afriyi Viafe, Chief Corporate Services and Sustainability Officer, MTN Ghana, said: “Christmas is a time to show love and Boxing Day is set aside for donations. We are so happy to see the smiling faces of new mothers. As you know, this is something we do every year, and several staff members across the country visit selected hospitals with gifts.”
Beneficiary Kissinna Kodareme, who gave birth to a baby girl at Tamale Teaching Hospital on Christmas Day, expressed joy at the gesture and thanked MTN Ghana for initiating the exercise.
Efia Nkwanta Regional Hospital Administrator Michael Danso expressed gratitude to MTN Ghana for the distribution of the baskets. She said: “Many mothers need these items to care for their newborn babies, but hospitals are unable to support them due to financial constraints. This means you are very responsible. We wish you all the best in your efforts.”
