Imani Africa Senior Vice President Kofi Bentil insisted that President Akufo-Addo should not have intervened in the “convention” event organized by the new faction.
Bentil said since the event was private, there was no reason for Jubilee House to disrupt such a program by canceling it.
He told JoyNews Newsfile on Saturday that he believed there was no threat on the show, adding that the incident and the resulting embarrassment could have been easily avoided.
“The president should stay away from this program. This is someone arranging a meeting, and someone arranging a meeting.” [from the Presidency] “We have decided to cancel the meeting for very bad and wrong reasons,” he said on January 13.
He called for an investigation into the matter, noting that the issued letter was an order of the Office of the President and questioned whether all letters issued by the Office of the President had proper authority.
“Our presidency seems to be in trouble at times. Not knowing who is singing what is more worrying to me than the event itself,” Bentil said.
He says that’s more worrying than the event itself.
His comments were prompted by Professor Agyeman Dua’s claim on the show that President Akufo-Addo should have mentioned the cancellation of the “Convention”.
Professor Dua stressed that if the president did not approve or was unaware of the cancellation, he would be expected to announce and denounce the cancellation, adding that those who support the cancellation would not accept him as head of state. He said he was confused.
“If someone did that, someone would have to step up to protect the president. Our system of government does not allow someone to step down to protect someone as great as the president.” said Professor Agyeman Dua.
Against this backdrop, Mr Bentil criticized the cancellation of the New Force event organized by Nana Kwame Bediako and opposed attempts to thwart his political ambitions.
“He’s saying he’s our salvation and he’s here to save us, let’s just take it for what it is, he’s wearing a voodoo mask, and he’s saying he’s here to save us. I say you shouldn’t be afraid of him, let’s accept him as such. He’s going to inject some kind of drug.”Activity in political campaigns.
“What we should not do is commit serious national resources to trying to cancel his event. A cancellation is more news than an event, and we should not use our national resources proactively.” I think we should,” he said.
Africa’s Senior Vice President Imani urged the government to allow Bediako to proceed with his plans, stressing that canceling the event was completely unnecessary.
“There is no way, politically or nationally, that this is going to develop into something that requires presidential intervention. This is a young man who is injecting a different dimension into our politics, and we can leave him alone. ” Ventil said.
