The Office of the Special Prosecutor has waived all charges against former Minister of Health Cecilia Abena Dapaa.
This comes after the Accra High Court ordered OSP to return Cecilia Dapar’s seized funds within 72 hours.
At a press conference on Thursday, January 25, Special Prosecutor Kissi Agiben referred the case to the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO) for continued investigation.
The High Court also found six people allegedly involved in the coup plot guilty of conspiracy to commit high treason and high treason.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Benjamin Agorzo, Colonel Gameli, and another junior officer, Corporal Seydou Abubakar, were acquitted and released.
The Trades Union Congress (TUC) has issued a seven-day ultimatum to the government demanding that the levy of Value Added Tax (VAT) on electricity consumption above the lifeline threshold be lifted.
TUC Secretary-General Dr. Yaw Bah stressed that this measure will have a negative impact on the lives of ordinary Ghanaians, especially pensioners and low-income earners.
Once again, Electoral Commission (EC) Chairman Jean Mensa has proposed changing the dates of the presidential and parliamentary elections from December 7 to November 7.
These proposals were presented during the Interparty Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting held on Monday, January 22, 2024.
However, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has opposed the Electoral Commission’s proposal to change the election date from December 7 to November 7.
Rather than supporting the EC’s unilateral decisions, the NDC calls for a comprehensive review of the electoral process through comprehensive and appropriate dialogue.
Moderator Samson Lardi Anyenini and his panellists delved into the above issues in the news file.
