Lieutenant General Seth Amoama, who is retiring as the Chief of Defense Staff (CDS) of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF), has officially handed over his powers to his successor, Major General Thomas Oppong Peprah.
The handing over of power to his successor by Lieutenant General Seth Amoama took place at a Guard of Honor Parade organized by GAF at Garrison Burma yesterday to bid farewell and honor to the outgoing CDS.

The honor guard parade conducted by the GAF consisted of 98 troops selected from the Army, Navy and Air Force and was inspected by Lieutenant General Amoama.
Lieutenant General Amoama was also presented with certificates and gifts from the Ministry of Defence, GAF officers and personnel, defense civilians, the GAF Command and Staff College and allied security agencies.
Gifts presented to the outgoing CDS included a plaque, Royal Kente and accessories, a double door refrigerator and a television.
The farewell parade was followed by a take-home parade where Lt. Gen. Amoama waved a white handkerchief to commemorate his retirement from the GAF after 40 years of service.
In his farewell address, Lt. Gen. Amoama thanked President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the Ministry of Defence, heads of the public sector, allied security agencies, clergy, the media, and others for the support they provided during his tenure. He also expressed his gratitude to his family. of the office.
He called on GAF leaders to ensure professionalism by training throughout the year to improve their skills, adding that “leadership is not about status.” It’s about the lives you touch and the legacy you leave behind. ”
He further called on the GAF and its allied security agencies to support the newly appointed CDS in carrying out its mandate diligently to ensure its transformation.
The short but colorful ceremony was attended by the Deputy Minister of Defence, Mr. Kofi Amangwa Manu, the Deputy Minister of Education, Mr. John Ntim Fordjule, Member of Parliament for Korle-Kloti Constituency, Mr. Zanetor Agyemang-Rawlings, and Western State Representative Peter Lanschen Toub.
Others include heads of allied security agencies, retired CDS and military officers, members of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Defense, the State Council, the National Security Council, and Nana Klobea Asante of Kwahu Mpraeso, the Kwahu Mpraeso led by Mr Adontehene.
