Africa’s biggest tournament, TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Cote d’Ivoire 2023 concludes tonight with the grand final between hosts Ivory Coast and Nigeria at the Alassane Ouattara Stadium in Ebimpe at 20:00 GMT.
The decider will be televised in 173 territories worldwide, making it by far the most watched AFCON in the competition’s history and reaffirming the competition’s global appeal.
The final will be held in 54 African countries, the majority of Europe, Asia, the Middle East, South America, North America, the Caribbean and the South Pacific.
Leading global broadcasters are traditional CAF partners beIN Sport (MENA, Europe, Americas, South Pacific), Canal+ and New World TV. Other international broadcasters to show the competition include Sky Sport, BBC, Ziggo, OKKO, Sport Digital, ViaPlay, Sport Italia, A1, SuperSport, Sport5, Sport TV Portugal, LaLiga+, Sport Klub, SABC, Azam Media, AfroSport, Nigeria Broadcasting Corporation, SNRT, FanCode, BandTV and more.
The opening ceremony, which will feature some world music stars, will start at 18:40. More investment has been made in television production to improve the viewer experience. For the first time, more than 33 cameras will be used for the Final.
Host nation Ivory Coast and Nigeria will be hoping to add to their trophy haul when they meet for the second time in the competition. The latter won the first match 1-0 at the same venue.
Les Elephants, as the Ivorians are nicknamed, are hoping for a third title after 1992 and 2015, while Nigeria’s Super Falcons are aiming for their fourth after triumphing in 1980, 1994 and 2013.
