The Ministry of Health said it was in talks with the Treasury to secure funding for benefits to members of the Rotating Nurse and Midwifery Association (RNMA).
This is in response to the RNMA issuing a two-week ultimatum to the government demanding that the financial release of overdue benefits be lifted immediately.
In a statement, the RNMA leadership criticized the government’s inaction, arguing that it is undermining the health, well-being and financial stability of its members, further endangering Ghana’s health care system.
They are threatening to go on strike within two weeks unless the ministry quickly addresses their concerns.

Meanwhile, he stressed that he expects the Ministry of Health to release funds soon.
“We are very hopeful and believe that a lot of work has been done and a lot of negotiation has taken place and we look forward to addressing it as soon as possible.”
