The Chief Executive (MCE) of the Kwahu East Municipality in the Eastern Region has expressed concern over the increasing number of accidents on the Nkaukau section of the Accra-Kumasi Expressway.
According to Yaw Owusu Addo, immediate steps must be taken to block unauthorized access points to the highway to prevent further accidents.
Mr Addo expressed concern following the tragic incident on Thursday, February 15, in which three male students and a female teacher were killed at Ampere Memorial School in Nkoukau.

The fatal accident involved a Nissan patrol vehicle believed to be the official vehicle of Atwima Kwanwoma District Chief Executive, Prince Karikari, colliding with a Hyundai minibus with registration number GE 2291-10.
According to eyewitness accounts, the bus driver was driving on the shoulder from Accra-Kumasi near Nantia when he attempted to make an unauthorized U-turn.
Reacting to the incident, Mr. Addo said that despite efforts to address the issue and curb accidents on the roads, they were unable to convince the highway authorities to effectively address the issue. expressed dissatisfaction.
He stressed the need for widespread support to deal with the situation and warned that there will be more accidents if swift action is not taken.
“We have been raising this issue since I became MCE, but it is not an issue that can be tackled alone at municipal level. We need greater support to deal with this situation, but we need greater support. “We know there is a disaster waiting to happen if we don’t act,” he said.
