Okay, racing fans, let’s do this. We’re just hours away from today’s free live F1 Bahrain as the first two races of the season will take place on Saturday instead of the usual Sunday slots this year. Missed it already? We can also point you to a lengthy highlighting program.
If you’ve already looked around for local options on where to watch the Bahrain GP online, you may have found that it’s locked behind a premium sports streaming subscription or expensive cable package. Well, since F1 is such a huge sport globally, it’s inevitable that some countries will show it locally for free.
That’s where our guide comes in, as we can show you how to bypass the geo-restriction that prevents viewers outside of the channel’s home country from watching for free like a local. We’ll go into more detail below, but basically, if you want to sign up from abroad, you’ll need one VPN to spoof your display device location to match the broadcast. It is very simple to get started and you will be able to use the same method to follow every match this season (as seen in our free F1 live streaming guide), along with even more free streaming opportunities such as the events below:

How to watch Bahrain F1 live stream in UK
The only free live Formula 1 race you’re likely to get in the UK will be the British GP at Silverstone, as in recent seasons Sky has shared coverage with Channel 4 for the event.
As for the rest of the season, Channel 4 run an excellent extended highlights show a few hours after each match, which is a solid free-to-air alternative. They even do qualifying times a few hours after the previous day’s finish.
If you really want to see everything liveone Sky Sports deal is your best bet and this is a great way to get it in glorious 4K too. Sky covers every match weekend, so you won’t have to jump between it and networks like TNT like you do for the Premier League.
If you don’t want a traditional TV contract, however, and prefer a monthly option that you can ditch whenever you want, Sky’s Now TV The offshoot has a Sky Sports tier that costs £11.99 for a day pass or £34.99 a month, although there’s an offer on at the moment which brings that price down to £21.99 for the next 12 months.
Now TV’s main draw is that it works on a one-month rolling contract, but if you need it every week, it’s arguably a better deal to get a proper Sky Sports Package as you will earn much more money. Also, Now TV is still operating in the dark ages and has the gall to charge Furthermore for HD in 2024.
However, if you’re craving a live stream of English F1 from abroad, the online-only Now TV is at least compatible with a VPN.
Note: Using a VPN is illegal in some countries, and using a VPN to access region-locked streaming content may violate the terms of service for some services. Insider does not endorse or condone the illegal use of VPNs.
