Ivory Coast President Alassane Ouattara praised the Ghanaian president’s exemplary leadership skills.
He said that despite the global economic crisis, President Akufo-Addo had steered the economy and prevented economic turmoil.
“Your Excellency, dear Nana, my dear friend and brother, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your leadership and many achievements in Ghana despite adversities at the global level such as COVID-19, war and Ukraine. I would like to commend them in Gaza and Palestine,” he said.
He made these comments while speaking as the guest of honor at the 67th Independence Day celebrations held in Koforidua, Eastern Region on March 6.
He added that President Akufo-Addo’s leadership extended beyond the shores of Ghana to the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
The Ivorian president added that he did not want President Akufo-Addo to serve as president because he excelled in his role as ECOWAS president. [Ghana’s President’s] Ending tenure.
“I would like to thank you for the commitment to regional economic integration that you have shown during your tenure as ECOWAS President. Yes, you have done an extraordinary job, an outstanding job, and as other heads of state know, I didn’t want you to leave. I thought you should keep going for years,” he added.
He seized the opportunity to thank the country for its contribution to the success of the recently concluded African Cup of Nations.
“I would also like to thank Ghana for its contribution to the success of the 34th AFCON, which was held in Ivory Coast from January 13 to February 11 this year,” he said.
He stressed that these matches are a celebration of friendship and unity between Ivory Coast and Ghana.
Once again, he congratulated the President and the people of Ghana on their independence.
