The Chief Executive (MCE) of Nkwanta South Municipality in Oti State, Mr Felix Owusu Gyima, has called on residents to support efforts to review the curfew in the area to bring about peace.
Nkwanta South has been plagued by violence and riots in recent months, leading the Ministry of Interior to impose a strict curfew on the advice of the Oti Regional Coordination Council (ORCC).
The MCE stressed the importance of maintaining peace and safety in the community and said the curfew is a temporary measure to address safety concerns.
He acknowledged that the curfew has affected residents’ daily lives, but stressed the need to ensure the safety of everyone in the community.
According to the MCE, peacefully allowing the review of the curfew in southern Nkwanta will not only give residents a sense of freedom and normalcy, but also demonstrate its commitment to promoting reconciliation and unity in the region. It is said that it will also happen.
In an interview with Adom News, MCE expressed confidence that with the support of the community, lasting peace and security can be achieved in southern Nkwanta.
He therefore called on residents to cooperate with security forces and provide information to help review the curfew.
Nkwanta South Member of Parliament Jeffrey Kini also commented on the review of the curfew, highlighting that the curfew is having a negative impact on business activity and urging residents to work together to find a solution that benefits everyone. I urged them to do so.
He said it was important for residents to continue working towards building a peaceful and harmonious community in Nkwanta South by peacefully acknowledging the review of the curfew.
