Action at the 13th African Games continues and Friday will be no different from the rest of the days where Accra and surrounding areas have been a hive of sporting activity.
Boxing will begin at the center of the Ghanaian game, Bukom with three Ugandan boxers in action.
On the same day, Uganda’s two football teams (U20 Women and Men) will also be in action for their final Group matches.
Here’s a look at Ugandan athletes in action today.
Boxing (Round 16)
Sharua Musa Ndagire aka The Pretty Boxer will take on Nigeria’s Nene Ojo in the women’s featherweight (57kg) preliminary round at the Bukom Boxing Arena. The match will take place at 17:15 EAT
In the men’s middleweight (67kg), Owen Isaac Kibira takes on Billy Graham Nze Sehekina Maye of Equatorial Guinea at 19:00 EAT.
The other Ugandan to step into the ring on Friday is Kassim Murungi who takes on Timothy Williams in the men’s featherweight division at 10.30pm.
Football
Team action in the soccer tournaments (men’s and women’s) culminates on Friday.
Uganda’s men’s U20 team has already qualified for the semi-finals after defeating Nigeria and Senegal and will complete Group B action against neighbors South Sudan.
The match will be played at the University of Ghana Stadium with Nigeria and Senegal facing each other at the Accra Sports Stadium.
For the Women, Uganda’s U20 women’s team will face hosts Ghana in the battle for top spot at the Cape Coast Stadium.
Uganda need a point to qualify for the semi-finals but can also top the Group if they beat Ghana.
In the same group, Tanzania with one point will face Ethiopia who are already out of the competition without having collected a point so far.
Both the Uganda Hippos and Queen Cranes matches kick off at 11pm EAT.
