The National Communications Authority (NCA) has revealed that it will take at least five weeks to fully restore disrupted undersea cables that have significantly affected data services nationwide.
In a statement issued on Saturday, March 16, the institution said it had a face-to-face meeting with the leadership of all four submarine cable landing service providers (ACE, MainOne, SAT-3 and WACS) and the three Ghana-providers and operators mobile network operators including AT, MTN and Telecel for updates on the situation and to discuss the way forward.

According to the NCAsubmarine cable landing service providers have remotely located the approximate points of damage and made preparations to send repair vessels to the site for physical assessment and restoration.
“Based on the above, submarine cable landing service providers have indicated an estimated time frame of at least five weeks to fully restore services once vessels are dispatched to the various locations,” the NCA statement said.
The institution assured of its commitment to work with stakeholders to gradually add more capacity for data services as it becomes available.
