The suspect in the murder of University of Ghana law lecturer Professor Emmanuel Yaw Benne has been sentenced to 30 years in prison with hard labor.

After a plea deal, prosecutors in the case asked for a sentence of 30 years in prison, which the court accepted.
In September 2020, Benne was murdered in his home in an incident that shocked many.
Police investigated and found multiple signs of assault on his face.
A search of the crime scene also revealed gloves, a bloody rope, and bloodstains on the wall.
During the incident, the main suspect, James Nana Womba, a cleaner from Benne, confessed to killing the lecturer.
Mr Womba said he entered the late professor’s house to rob him and not to cause harm.
However, he died in police custody on October 17, 2020. The second suspect, Opambur Badu Nkansah, also fell ill while in custody and was admitted to the police hospital.
According to reports, he became unwell shortly after his arrest and was hospitalized.

YEN.com.gh The mother of the late CEO of Kiki Bees has denied claims that her son committed suicide, the newspaper reported.
Cecilia Adoma also denied suggestions that her son was under the influence of drugs before his death.
