Competition starts at 12.30pm on Friday with the men’s hammer and at 10am on Saturday with the women’s discus. The 4×400-meter relay, scheduled for 2:50 p.m. CT on Saturday concludes the meeting.
Members of the team’s pole vault team split up to compete closer to home, jumping 98u Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays and Texas State’s Bobcat Invitational.

LAST EXIT
The Bears had their first full outdoor meet of the 2024 season at home in the Clyde Hart Classic. BU won seven overall with two additional collegiate titles. Taking home the total wins were Alexis Brown (long jump, 100m.), Ellie Hodge (1,500m.), Demar Francis (400m.), Rachel Hickey (800m) and both 4X100m relay teams. The women’s 4X400m relay and De’montray Callis (100 meters) were the athletes with the highest finish in their races.
TAKE CARE OF THEM
BU may only be one meet into the season, but two program records have already fallen. Alexis Brown leapt 21-11 in the long jump to break a record that was just 20 years old, while Chinecherem Prosper Nnamdi threw for 271-8 to beat his preview record of 266-6 set at the 2022 NCAA West Regional meet in Fayetteville, Ark.
IN THE NATIONAL CLASSES
by Alexis Brown 21-11 is No. 1 in the NCAA so far this season, and leads five other BU entries in the NCAA’s top 10 marks. Demar Francis bolted at 45.90 for third, the women’s 4×100 is fourth, the men’s 4×100 is fifth and the first-year pole vaulters Molly Haywood and Alencia Lenz they are tied for No. 8.
¿POR QUÉ NO LOS DOS?
Baylor earned both Big 12 Conference Men’s and Women’s Athlete of the Week honors for Demar Francis’ and by Alexis Brown efforts in the Clyde Hart Classic.
Francis took home the men’s honor after posting the fourth sub-46-second 400-meter race on the DI performance list for the 2024 outdoor season. With a conference-leading 45.90, he edged out defending Big 12 400 champion Zarik Brown of Oklahoma, with the third fastest mark in the country.
Brown earned the nod after setting both the indoor and outdoor program record in the women’s long jump with a mark that is No. 1 in the nation. Returning a day later in the 100m, he also placed 11thu-Fastest mark in the nation, winning the event with a race of 11.42 seconds.
I’M FLYING IT TO GHANA
Chinecherem Prosper Nnamdi participated in the African Games, organized by the University of Ghana, last weekend for his native Nigeria. The two-time All-American won the men’s javelin with a program-record 271-8, a throw that is just 9 feet short of the standard to enter the 2024 Paris Olympics.
CATALOG IN LONE STAR STATUS
His team on pole, led by Coach Brandon Richardswill stay in Texas to compete in ’98u Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays and Texas State’s Bobcat Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
Molly Haywood and Alencia Lenzathletes tied for eighth in the nation will compete in Saturday morning’s University Elite division of the women’s pole vault at Mike A. Myers Stadium at 11 a.m. Parker Brannon, Katelyn Andrews, Lillianna Ifft and Tenli Kun everyone is racing in San Marcos.
