A young Ghanaian woman based in the United States has grilled the Ghanaian embassy in New York City for alleged unprofessional conduct in the performance of its duties.
In a thread posted on her X profile under the username Yaa Tabby, she recounted her ordeal at the Ghanaian embassy where she went to retrieve her brother-in-law’s passport.
She said an employee named Mimi told her the embassy did not have a printer to print the consent form she was asked to send by email.
This follows complaints she previously made about how other people who came to see her for the same purpose were treated while she was kept waiting.
She said her brother-in-law asked her for a consent form, but she still complied, even though she wasn’t asked to meet anyone she met there.
“…And I said, ‘I need a letter of acceptance from the person you’re going to receive it from, and I’ll have him send it to me.’ [email protected]“I started laughing out loud because, ma’am, make sure you understand!”
..You’re trying to frustrate me. The women in the back were speaking Gaar and laughing and I know they were talking shit about me, so so am I. I gave it to them! When I said I would press charges, she even said she wasn’t going anywhere.

“Two minutes later I walked over there and told the other gentleman that a letter had been sent to them and if they could check it and confirm it, they could come out. At that time, this short, dark-skinned woman (I looked it up and her name was Mimi) came to the counter and said, “The embassy doesn’t have a printer, so I’d like you to go print a letter.” That’s when I said, “Please.” ”
“She said, ‘The printer prints the paper, the mma, the sɛwokaas nkoara na winim mmara.’ [Have you procured printers for us to print your documents for you, You seem to know your right.] That’s when I lost it, because I talked about something bad that I had witnessed,” she narrated.
“Are these the people you hired to represent you? These uneducated, unpolite, corrupt people with no integrity or professionalism?” she tagged Ghana’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has not yet commented on the issue.

I would like to share my horrifying experience with the Consulate General of Ghana (Ghana Embassy) in New York. My spirit will not be happy if I remain silent about this issue. @GhanaMFA @AyorkorBotchwey @hajiamaha1
