In 2021, Edward Nana Poku Osei, popularly known as Hammer, shared a harrowing experience with COVID-19, which nearly claimed his life.
The producer says the near-death experience forced him to give up many things, including smoking and his already accomplished career.
In a recent interview, Hammer talked about his journey back into music – one he’s been doing for nearly two decades.

Hammer shares his story back to music
According to Hammer, he was overjoyed his career from 1999 to 2015 and had no plans to return to music.

Also, his huge success with A1 Bread Company further drew him away from music. “I bought three cars in a year,” Hammer revealed in a recent interview with 3 Music TV.
The legendary producer said he took inspiration from Sarkodie, one of his products from his collective Last Two, to rethink his attitude.
Hammer said Sarkodie was not happy that the producer was leaving the scene at a time when music was starting to pay well thanks to the digital disruption.
The producer behind some of Ghana’s top hiplife classics also named Joey B in his revival story. He recalled Joey B calling him lamenting his absence on digital platforms, prompting him to consult Worlasi, who connected him with a distributor.

Earlier, YEN.com.gh reported that Hammer had been in a series of guest appearances on Nana McBrown’s Onua Showtime TV show.
The rapper couldn’t hide his emotions as he watched a video from the show talking about Hammer’s efforts to push talents like him to the top.
He shed a tear while talking about the legendary producer and made his colleagues aware of the need to recognize and honor Hammer in a special way.
