A suspect who tried to deceive attendees at an Easter convention organized by a Pentecostal church in Kasoa has been arrested.
The man, who is wanted by the police, has since gained attention on social media platforms after fabricating a miraculous cure for his alleged blindness.
Officials said the 67-year-old suspect falsely claimed that he had been miraculously cured of his 22-year blindness, and his testimony at the convention quickly spread across various social media platforms.
The Kasoa District of the Pentecostal Church launched a thorough investigation into the authenticity of the alleged healing and conducted an assessment of the suspect’s living situation.
Plans were in the works to provide him and his family with housing and start-up capital, but it turned out that he had orchestrated the entire ordeal.
At the same time, Ghanaian police launched an investigation after viewing the viral video, which led to the tracking and subsequent arrest of the suspect.
Commenting on the incident, Apostle James Kwabena Asare, the Kasoa Area President of the Pentecostal Church, said in a statement: This man, who was thought to be blind, turned out to be a criminal who was responsible for many atrocities and was hiding from justice. He has now been arrested and handed over to the police. ”
The statement also asked church members to refrain from discussing or sharing information about fabricated miracles on social media platforms.
Apostle Asare also stressed the importance of obtaining permission from regional media committees before disseminating information related to the church on social media platforms to prevent similar incidents in the future.
