*I’m proud of your stance on LGBTQ practices – Imam to Bawumia*
Vice President Dr. Mahanudu Bawumia has been praised for his tough stance against homosexual acts in Ghana.
Dr Bawumia, who spoke on LGBTQ issues in Ghana at an Eid prayer observation in Kumasi on Thursday, said as a Muslim he was against LGBTQ issues.
He further stated that as a leader, he could not support this act as Christian and Ghanaian norms were also against this practice.
Reacting to the issue during the Juma prayers held at the National Mosque on Friday, Imam Ustaz Mu’az ibn Imam Abbas, who led the prayers, expressed excitement over Dr Bawumia’s stance.
He praised the vice president and said Muslims are excited about it because his opposition to the practice is in line with Islamic teachings.
“Yesterday, Dr. Bawumia spoke about the practice of homosexuality and expressed his stand against it. Muslims are happy with Vice President Bawumia’s statement because it reflects our teachings,” said the Nation’s Chief Imam. said the Imam in the presence of Sheikh Osman. Nuhu Charbutz.

“First of all, it is important to note that as Ghanaians, our cultural and social norms and values frown upon homosexual acts,” Dr. Bawumia said.
“Furthermore, as a Muslim, my views on this issue are consistent with my faith’s position. There are many verses in the Holy Quran that frown upon LGBTQ acts, including same-sex marriage. My faith is very strongly against homosexual behavior.” There are no ifs or buts. ”
“Therefore, I cannot support something that my religion, and indeed all major religions in Ghana, clearly and unequivocally forbid. All major religious traditions in Ghana (Christianity and Islam) ) is against this practice and I am still against it. As President, I will oppose it insha’Allah.”
