South Dai MP, Rockson Nelson Dafairmekpol
South Dai Member of Parliament Rockson Nelson Duffyamekpor has expressed the view that the former Executive Director of SSNIT, Dr. John Ofori Tenkoran, should not have been removed from his post.
According to him, the former SSNIT secretary general did a very good job.
In an interview with Ghanaweb, he said: SSNIT, I don’t think Mr. Tencoran is a friend of mine, but given his attendance at the Public Accounts Committee and some of his meetings with me, I think he has done very well. He is one of the CEOs who has taken a stand against allowing exchange programs to affect pensioners. If the Director-General were to do something like that and confront the Minister of Finance, there would probably be such consequences, but otherwise there is no reason why Mr. Tengcolan should be removed. ”
Meanwhile, the Office of the President addressed the recent resignation of Dr. Ofori Tenkoran from his position as Executive Director of the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT), stressing that it had nothing to do with Dr. Ofori’s wrongdoing.
Last week, President Akufo-Addo appointed Kofi Bosompem Osafo-Maafo as the new Executive Director of SSNIT, sparking speculation in the media.
However, on Saturday, April 13, 2024, the situation was clarified in a statement issued by Eugene Arkhin, head of the communications department of the presidential palace.
“Contrary to some speculations in the media, the Office of the President wishes to place on record that Dr. John Ofori-Tenkoran’s resignation from the position of SSNIT Director-General is not connected to any wrongdoing or wrongdoing. The responsibility is on his part,” the statement claimed.
