The outgoing Executive Director of the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT), Dr John Ofori-Tenkoran, has advised his successor Kofi Bosompem Osafo-Maafo to pursue his own vision for the trust.
In his farewell address to staff, Dr Ofori Tenkoran challenged the next boss of SSNIT to do things his way. Because that’s the only way he can succeed.
he said: “So, you’re about to be the new Ag. DG. We started this journey together. You’ve been here seven years, as long as I’ve been here. So, you’re going to pull the ropes.” I know. You know how this place works. So I’m sure you’ll be fine.”
Dr. Ofori Tenkorunagu said: [Deputy Director General in charge of Investment Development], will soon be Ag. Mr. Secretary, I say the same thing. Do it your way,” he said, quoting what Kofi Annan, the late former UN Secretary-General of Ghana, told reporters in 2006 about what he said to his successor, Ban Ki-moon.
“And I ask you, DDG, managers and staff, to give Mr. Osafo Maafo your full support as you have given me, as he executes the Trust’s vision. Please support him even more than you have done for me so that we can consolidate and build on the success we have had together so far.”
The outgoing Director-General also pledged to remain on the staff of the Trust under the leadership of the newly appointed Director-General, Kofi Bosompem Osafo-Maafo.
SSNIT Deputy Director Michael Addo resigns
He emphasized that he was still part of the Trust, having spent seven years of his life with it.
“Seven years of my life have been here and I remain a part of you,” said Dr. Ofori Tenkoran.
“I pray for you and encourage you to reach greater heights. And I share and rejoice in your victories and successes. We must succeed and SSNIT “We must also succeed and grow stronger and stronger. For the benefit of all the people on whose sweat and toil this country is built,” he added.
