Alexis Brown continued her dominance of the women’s long jump, winning the event with a new personal-best mark that changed the facility and program records before Molly Haywood scored her second straight victory in the pole vault.
THE OVERTHROWING
For the second time this season, Brown returned to Hart Track and Field Stadium and left with new personal, facility and program records, all by an inch. The 21-11 ½ senior won the event ahead of Trinidad and Tobago Olympian Tyra Gittens. Nikayla Fitzgerald it was the bear that completed the next finish at 13u position at 19-1 ½ and Coy Johnson was 17u.
Haywood gave the Bears their second win of the day in the women’s pole vault, clearing a new PB bar of 14-7 ½ for the title. Alencia Lenz was in the bronze medal position two beams back at 14-3 ¼ and Tenli Kun rounded out the top 10 for BU in eighth place.
Finishing seventh overall, but second among school athletes, Jasmine Gryne ran 59.12. Sima Lucero it was 12u with a score of 61 seconds and Audrey Williamson was 27u.
The second fastest time was recorded in the women’s 200m Tyriah Kelley with her best time of the outdoor season a 23.43. Michaela Francois set a PB in the race, finishing seventh in 23.75 ahead Summer Sergeant at 24u, Imaobong Uko at 36u, Kourtney Kennard the 63rd and Joey Wells the 75thu.
Continuing a strong outdoor season, Rachel Hickey placed third in the women’s 1,500m in 4:28.63 and as a first-semester freshman Ruth Kimeli was also in the top 10 with a 4:36.73. Hayden Gold and Jordan Ledington it was back to back at 19u and 20uwith Rosanna Pugh at 23rdAmaina Zamorano at 28u and Chloe Gangnath at 30u.
It was a two PB day for Makayla Long in the hammer throw, as she finished the event with 181-4 and 180-2, both beating her previous best of 173-9. That effort put her in seventh place, just behind Victoria Adu in sixth place with 183-2.
In its final regular season meet at Clyde Hart Track and Field Stadium, Ryan Hodge placed seventh after 3:53.61 in the 1,500 meters, which was within a second of a new personal best. Freshmen Nolan Keenan and Ben Archer was 25u and 33rdrespectively, and Zach Zawatski was 34u.
De’montray Callis led the Bears in the men’s 200 meters Friday night, going 21.11 to win the third heat and take sixth in the event championed by New Mexico Junior College’s Tapiwa Makarawu, the holder of the fourth-fastest NJCAA mark of all time seasons. Laurence Colbert it was 12u with Ricquan Graham back to 35u.
Freshman Parker Brannon had a 16-2 ¾ day in the men’s pole vault, good enough for seventh place in the event.
Of the three Bears who competed in the men’s long jump, none found a final appearance, as Trpimir Siroki it was 10u for 23-4. George Obote and Nicholas Rodriguez finished 19thu and 23rdrespectively.

The Bears return to the track for the second day of the Michael Johnson Invitational on Saturday. Head coach Michael Ford will recognize the senior class of 2024 at the front promptly at 10:30 a.m. prior to the start of the first pitch at 11 a.m.
