“BILT is a key component of the Government-initiated Ghana Trade and Investment Gateway (GHATIG) Programme, a critical driver of economic progress and regional connectivity. Therefore, this project is important for economic development, reduces port congestion and overall transport costs and leads to the facilitation of regional trade for Ghana and neighboring Sahelian countries,” he said.
He added that it will further consolidate Ghana’s leadership role, especially under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
The project’s proximity to the newly completed Kumasi International Airport and the Ghana Seaport will further establish Ghana’s leading multimodal transport hub in West Africa and beyond.
After the tour, the Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei Mensah, expressed his satisfaction with the progress and quality of the works. He stressed that despite the country’s economic challenges, the government is committed to allocating the necessary funds to accelerate the project’s progress and meet all deadlines.

“Where BILT is located, we have the Ghana Free Zones Authority also having land here as well as the Ashanti Industrial Park, but these things will not function properly without the logistics terminal. I am happy with the work that has been done,” he said.
Custom civil works, drains, culverts and bridges are the critical important projects for this type of road construction. Once these are done, the rest of the work is simpler, which is exactly what has been done here. The hardest work has been done and we hope that the rest of the work will be completed in due course.” GSA Board Chair Stella Wilson was grateful that the Minister visited the site and assured him of GSA’s full commitment to ensuring that the project strengthens the economic situation of the middle zone and the northern sectors of the country.
