Bediatuo Asante, Secretary-General to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has denied advising the Canadian Embassy in Ghana to reduce visa issuance to Ghanaians.
According to an article titled “Asante Bediatuo Urges Canadian Embassy to Reduce Visa Issuance Rates for Ghanaians” published on amnewsworld.com on May 16th by Ohene Anochie, Bediatuo stated in a secret meeting with the Canadian Ambassador to Ghana, His Excellency Christopher Thornley, that “Ghana is losing a lot of its young and dynamic workforce to other countries.”
This article was also published on thinknewsonline.com.
“Our country is losing some of its best talent and most skilled professionals,” Bediatuo was quoted as saying.
“Overseas opportunities may be attractive, but it is important to address the underlying issues that are causing our citizens to leave the country,” he added.

However, in a statement on May 21, Bediatuo Asante’s lawyers stressed that the reports are false and must be ignored by the public.
Mr. Bediatuo’s lawyers specifically named amnewsworld.com and thinknewsonline.com, which published and widely disseminated the allegations, and urged the public to despise the publications.
