Atalanta followed up their Europa League title with a 3-0 win over Torino in Serie A on Sunday and ended Roma’s hopes of qualifying for the Champions League.
Gianluca Scamakka and Ademola Lookman scored a goal in the first half for Atalanta and Mario Pasalic added a penalty after the break as the Bergamo side moved up to fourth, a point ahead of Bologna.
Lookman had a hat-trick in Atalanta’s 3-0 win over Bayer Leverkusen in the Europa League final on Wednesday and the Europa League trophy was on the line before kick-off.

Sixth-placed Roma, who later lost 2-1 to Empoli, needed Atalanta to finish fifth to qualify for the Champions League.
It’s the last round of the Italian league, but Atalanta still have a game to cover against Fiorentina next Sunday.
Scamacca scored first after set up by Charles De Ketelaere then Lookman pounced on a rebound of a Pasalic shot after another set-up by De Ketelaere. Midway through the second half, Lukman was fouled to give the penalty to Pasalic.
Atalanta boss Gian Piero Gasperini then announced he plans to stay at the club – ending speculation he could be heading to Napoli.
“I am attached to Atalanta and I will continue to be,” Gasperini said. “I am a believer.”
Also, defending champions Napoli were held to a 0-0 draw at home by Lecce and finished 10th to miss out on all European competition. Torino are ninth and can still qualify for the Europa Conference League if Fiorentina lift Europe’s third-tier trophy on Wednesday.
Three teams entered the final day of the season trying to avoid relegation and Udinese and Empoli stayed up while Frosinone fell.
Empoli needed to win and took an early goal Matteo Cancellieri but Hussem Awar equalized for Roma. afterward M’Baye Niang won it for the Tuscan club by finishing off a stoppage-time counter-attack. It was Niang’s sixth goal for Empoli since joining the club in January.
Udinese beat Frosinone 1-0 with a late goal from the English forward Keinan Davismeaning manager Fabio Cannavaro has fulfilled his mission to avoid the relegation zone following his appointment last month.
Udinese have been in the top flight continuously since 1995.
Also, Italian champions Inter were held 2-2 at Hellas Verona and Lazio drew 1-1 with already-relegated Sassuolo.
Before kick-off at the Stadio Olimpico, former Lazio coach Sven-Goran Eriksson was honoured.
