Senior Project Manager, Abdullahi Mahama, said the security personnel were robbed of their mobile phones and other personal belongings and tied up by the robbers in the early hours of Sunday.
Mahama explained that the incident occurred when security operatives tried to intercept bandits who were trying to rob a broken-down truck coming from Burkina Faso on the road.
He said there have been frequent cases of robbery along the Ofankor to Nsawam junction road but that the cases have been reported to the police and they have been assured that they will be investigated.
“The head of internal security called me and said that apparently one of our trucks, either Burkina Faso-made or foreign-made, had a breakdown in that section. And as always, when we have a vehicle that has a breakdown, the bandits target that truck and go and take what’s inside it.
“So, one of the security guards informed us that at about 12.45am, a black Toyota Camry salon car reached the location and approached the security guard.”
“After an argument, the assailants tied up the two security guards, attacked the two other men who were in the car, stole money and several mobile phones and fled.
“This has been happening whenever there are defective vehicles along Ofankor. However, we have reported it to the Ofankor Police and they have promised to launch an investigation.”
