Asia’s richest man eyes Ghana’s telecoms space
Mukesh Ambani, Asia’s richest tycoon, is enters the Ghanaian telecommunications scene with Next-Gen InfraCo (NGIC), a project set to tap into the booming mobile broadband market.
Spearheaded by Radisys Corp., a subsidiary of Reliance Industries Ltd., NGIC aims to roll out 5G broadband services in Ghana starting later this year.
Backed by technology giants such as Nokia, Tech Mahindra and Microsoft, NGIC aims to provide affordable digital services to emerging markets by leveraging Ghana’s growing telecommunications sector. Working with local players like Ascend Digital Solutions Ltd. and K-NET, together with the Government of Ghana, strengthens NGIC’s market position.
By securing exclusive rights to offer 5G services in Ghana for the next decade, NGIC is in sync with Ghana’s vision to digitally connect the entire nation within six years. With a whopping investment of $145 million over three years, NGIC is eyeing a repeat of the success that Jio Infocomm Ltd. Ambani in India.
Ghana’s large population of over 33 million presents a lucrative market for NGIC given the growing demand for budget-friendly mobile broadband services. Success in Ghana could pave the way for similar ventures across the continent, boosting digital connectivity and economic progress.

How mobile games are also a playground for cheaters

Mobile gaming is booming in Africa, with titles such as Call of Duty: Mobile (CODM), Fortnite, PUBG and Candy Crush. Africa now has the second highest number of mobile gamers globally, with 253 million players, just behind Southeast Asia’s 323 million.
Many African gamers have transitioned from casual gaming to becoming professional gamers and content creators. However, these games also become hunting grounds for cheaters. An impressive post by user X Abazz sheds light on how yahoo boys are using PUBG and CODM to scam people.
Cheating in these games is not much different from social media scams. Scammers create in-game friendships and then ask for money to buy in-game items, such as new weapons, which are considered status symbols.
Once the target sends the money, usually between ₦30,000 and ₦50,000, the scammer can cut ties or keep asking for more.

Ever wonder how Europe, the Middle East and Africa ended up in the same EMEA box?
Despite their economic differences, they share commonalities such as time zones, languages, politics and cultures. In addition, many countries in Africa and the Middle East were once European colonies.
But this clustering affects more than geography — it also affects recruitment and hiring. Unfortunately, many African applicants face marginalization due to their location, as recruiters often assume they are not suitable for roles in EMEA.
Some shed light on this matter. Jarir Mallah, Director of HR, shares how African talent is sidelined because roles are deemed unavailable in their region, cutting opportunities before they even start.
Then there is the issue of work visas. Most roles in EMEA are listed by European companies and often require candidates with existing work permits. Thus, when Africans apply, they often do not receive responses.
Take it from Ndemo, a developer navigating global opportunities. It highlights how skills and company culture also play a role in rejections. Some companies prefer a hybrid working model to fully remote settings.
