Carlos Kingsley Ahenkorah, Member of Parliament for Tema West Constituency
Member of Parliament for Tema West Constituency, Carlos Kingsley Ahenkorah, said government efforts to curb the current depreciation of the cedi against the dollar were commendable.
According to Ahenkorah, if the National Democratic Congress (NDC) had been in power, the exchange rate would have been 50 cedicents per dollar.
Speaking during a debate on UTV, Ahenkorah said, “On this dollar issue, I said that if the NPP was not in power, the dollar would be at 50.00 cedis to the dollar by now. This is because of the policies put in place by the current administration to bring the demand for gold to this level especially against oil. It would have been better if it was lower but it is a 14 per cent deterioration, which is far better than the level of the NDC administration.”
