The revelations were made during Config 2024 Conferencewhere Figma introduced a number of new features aimed at improving the user experience and streamlining the design process.
The redesign introduces a more accessible user interface (UI), with resizable panels and a new toolbar placed at the bottom of the canvas for quick access to features. This thoughtful update is designed to improve ergonomics and appeal to a wide range of users, from beginners to seasoned professionals.
AI integration
One of the new features revealed was AI design tools. These tools are set to upgrade the workflows of professional designers by automating everyday tasks and offering intelligent suggestions.
Features like “Make planswhich allows for mobile and web UI mockups via text messages, and Visual Search, which allows users to browse their team’s work for inspiration or specific designs, is just the tip of the iceberg.
THE “Levels of namesThe function can rename and organize layers in a file with a single click, and AI-powered prototyping can integrate static mockups into working prototypes without manual steps.
Additionally, Figma’s AI capabilities extend to automating tedious tasks such as adding realistic text, translating, adjusting tone, creating images, and removing image backgrounds, all within the Figma platform.

In addition to these features, Figma also introduced a new product called Figma Slides.
This tool combines the power and precision of Figma with easy-to-use slide functionality, allowing designers and collaborators alike to create and deliver interactive presentations.
It supports co-authoring with features like comments, chat, audio and organized grid view, making the presentation process as smooth as the finished product.
Between the lines
Figma AI is launched into a limited beta version starting Wednesday, and interested users can get on the waiting list. Figma says the beta period will last until the end of the year.
While in beta, Figma’s AI tools will be free, but the company says it may have to introduce “usage limits.” Figma is also promising”clear instructions on pricingWhen the AI features are officially released.
