The tech scene in Ghana took a major leap forward with the inaugural Demo Fridays event, held on Friday, June 28, 2024.
It is organized by Building Bytes podcast and supported by MEST of Africathis groundbreaking event brought together startups, tech teams, early adopters and tech professionals in a vibrant innovation showcase.
Inspired by the historic meeting of the Homebrew Computer Club and the rapid growth of the local technology market in various sectors, Demo Fridays aims to create a platform to share ideas, spark collaborations and ignite innovation that offers a unique opportunity to founders, customers, professionals, creators, regulators and investors to converge, share information and collaborate.
The event featured an impressive array of demos and insights shared by startups, including products like USSDhub a drag-and-drop platform for building USSD apps, Uzuri Space a virtual reality startup that helps artists showcase their work, Bare- connect an e-commerce builder for businesses and creators and Worklyn a software that helps busy professionals make the most of their productive hours.
The highlight of the day was the panel discussion on “Building for the Ghanaian Market” featuring distinguished speakers such as Irina Oduro, CEO of VerifiBuy (formerly Kudigo). Benjamin Sackey, Product Professional at Peach Payments. and (TheDumbTechGuy), software engineer at Spry. Their diverse perspectives provided invaluable insights into developing products tailored to the local market.
At the event, Building Bytes presented its newsletter, Brief description of Technical Leaders that keeps CEOs and technology professionals informed so they are always in the loop of activities and knowledge about the technology ecosystem across Ghana.
Participants praised the event for its inclusive atmosphere where they could learn new skills, share knowledge and explore potential partnerships. The success of the first Demo Friday has set the bar high, with attendees looking forward to the next event scheduled for September.
The Building Bytes team is excited to see more startups and tech teams participate in future editions, promising even more breakthrough ideas and networking opportunities.
Demo brews have indeed cemented their place as a cornerstone for Ghana’s growing tech community, fostering the spirit of information sharing and collaboration for innovation.

About the Building Bytes podcast
Building Bytes is a technology podcast hosted by three software entrepreneurs Caleb Lamptey, Poga Kuofie and Yaw Antwi Owusu. The podcast first aired in July 2023 with the primary goal of facilitating conversations in the Ghanaian tech ecosystem to drive growth and innovation.
Since its inception, the group has published over 30 episodes and collaborated Ghana Digital Innovation Week where they hosted a live session on lessons learned from the failed Ghanaian startups they also worked with Legaltech Lounge for its first Hangout for lawtech enthusiasts in Accra and recently entered into a content distribution deal Tech Labari.
