President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo has commissioned the year-end Bolgatanga Regional Hospital phase III rehabilitation project in the Upper East Region as a step towards improving healthcare delivery in the region.
In his speech, President Akufo-Addo stressed the importance of citizens having access to quality healthcare, affirming that it is a fundamental right for every Ghanaian.
“Access to quality healthcare is a fundamental right of every citizen and the government must ensure that the exercise of this right is not only theoretical but, more importantly, practical. this new hospital reinforces the commitment of the Akufo Addo government to this core”. He said
In addition, Akufo Addo emphasized the need to address the unequal distribution of health care workers, particularly in rural and underserved areas. He urged the Ministry of Health to expedite the finalization of an incentive package to attract and retain medical professionals where needed.
He concluded by expressing his gratitude to the Saudi Arabian Fund for its financial support and to all stakeholders who contributed to the completion of the Bolgatanga District Hospital project.
The Minister of Health Hon. Dr. Bernard Okoe Boye in his speech mentioned that the $1.76 billion Agenda 111 project has its footprint in the Upper East region as well, pointing out eight (8) of this project in Nabdam, Zuarungu, Binduri, Garu, Tempane, Pusiga, Paga and Fumbisi in the Upper East region
“Maintaining these facilities is as critical as building them, equipment failures and misuse can undermine our progress. We must ensure that these facilities are used wisely and cared for diligently. We have made significant investments, but maintaining them requires a collective effort.” He urged the people of the Upper East region.
Hon. Okoe Boye took the opportunity to announce that, in the next four weeks, the president will unveil the most modern urology, metrology and kidney transplant center in West Africa at the Korle bu Teaching Hospital, which will significantly address the kidney care problems that currently occupying. this country.
He further acknowledged the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Health Infrastructure Directorate, Ghana Health Service and other partners for providing resources and time to implement the project.
The Minister, concluding, stated that the Ministry, with the support of the Government, is working tirelessly to ensure that at least three of the Agenda 111 projects are operational before the end of the year.
