Happy New Year guys! I hope you all enjoyed the break. Yesterday was a great year for us. We managed to overcome 90,000+ unique visitors last year and this year, we hope to break this record as we focus on more content for our readers.
Here are some notes from the editor for 2024:
Generative AI
Unless you’ve been living under a rock, we’ve all witnessed how fast artificial intelligence (AI) has been moving since last year. Artificial intelligence is already disrupting various industries and the media content space has not been spared.
But we at Tech Labari have embraced artificial intelligence to help us with multimedia content. Since January of this year, we’ve been experimenting with Generative AI for the Features section. We used different AI generators to produce articles about Ghana and the African tech ecosystem. We have compiled our AI writer “Labari AI“.
The experiment so far has been largely successful. We’ve found that the content produced by generative AI is well-written articles with good resources on specific topics.
Of course, genetic AI is not without its flaws. Some articles we created had to be deleted because most of the content and research was “made up” and false. Artificial intelligence experts call this the “illusion” produced by genetic artificial intelligence.
But for the most part, genetic AI has done its job. For the foreseeable future, we will produce more creative AI articles, which will be editor-reviewed for accuracy. As AI improves, so will written content.
New Podcast Season
We created two podcasts for Tech Labari. A show is called “The Labari Media Podcast’, where we interview movers and shakers in the tech space in Ghana and Africa.
Our other show is “What is your story?”, a podcast show where we interview entrepreneurs, CEOs, entrepreneurs and creatives about their life stories, business careers and challenges they have faced.
We are pleased to announce that we will have new episodes of the Labari Media Podcast coming out very soon, and Season 3 of “What’s Your Story” will begin airing in March.
Current and Future Business Model
As I mentioned earlier, Generative AI is a big thing and it is affecting the way media sites generate revenue. For the most part, advertising is our main source of income and we expect that to change in the near future. It is hard to say whether we will turn to a “Subscriber model” where readers must subscribe to receive our content.
It’s currently under consideration, but we’re focusing on written content right now. We are open to advertisements from brands and companies who would like to use our platform to advertise to our readers from Ghana, Nigeria, UK and USA. Advertisers can also make use of it our newsletter which currently has over 600 subscribers to gain more exposure.
The future of content
The future is AI. However, there is still room for different kinds of content on our platform. We at Tech Labari have started publishing videos on our YouTube page to offer our audience richer content. You can subscribe to our YouTube channel to receive videos whenever we post new content.
Our podcasts are still going strong as we mentioned before with new content coming soon
Our content in the future will consist of news, data (see our data information page), reports (check out our EV mobility report), and created AI feature content.
This year 2024 should be an interesting year. We appreciate our readers and audience who continue to consume and share our content.
