The Office of the President has announced that the Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, will serve as President.
This was contained in a Facebook post by Jubilee House on February 14 regarding President Akufo-Addo’s official handle.
The post announced that the president will visit Germany for the Munich Security Conference and then Addis Ababa, Ethiopia for the 37th AU Summit.
The post read: “The President will return to Ghana on Sunday, February 18, 2024 and in his absence, the Vice President, Dr. Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia, will act in his place in accordance with Article 60, Section 8 of the Constitution. shall serve.” ”
“President Akufo-Addo will attend the 37th AU Summit to be held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The meeting of Heads of State will be held from February 17 to 18, 2024,” the President disclosed.
The theme of the summit is “Educating Africans for the 21st Century: Building resilient education systems to increase access to inclusive, lifelong, quality and relevant learning in Africa”.

Prior to his visit to Ethiopia, President Akufo-Addo will visit Munich, Federal Republic of Germany, to attend a security conference.
The Munich Security Conference (MSC) is a prominent platform for global debate on security policy.
According to the Presidency, “MSC 2024 aims to strengthen the rules-based international order and counter revisionist trends. We are planning to commemorate the anniversary.”
He was accompanied by the First Lady, Mrs. Rebecca Akufo-Addo. Minister of Foreign Affairs, Her Excellency Shirley Ayoko Botchway, Member of Parliament. and officials from the presidential palace and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
