Ahead of the 2024 Japanese Grand Prix, we are pleased to confirm that our damaged chassis from Round 3 has been fully repaired and arrived at Suzuka ahead of the weekend’s action.
The chassis returned from Melbourne to the Grove for repairs, before being shipped to Japan within a week.
“It’s only been a few months since we were last here in Japan and it will be interesting to tackle this great track at a slightly different time of year,” commented Dave Robson, Head of Performance Vehicles.
“The current forecast is for cool and calm conditions, but there is a chance of heavy rain to affect the event.
“Suzuka remains a very demanding circuit which places very high demands on the car, the tires and the drivers.
“Pirelli will provide the hardest compounds for this weekend and these will work well on the high-energy, low-roughness track at Suzuka.
“The cold conditions will have an impact on tire performance and we will be looking to understand these results in both qualifying and race conditions.
“A lot of work has been done at the Grove since we came back from Melbourne and as a result, we are in a good position to race hard here at Suzuka.”
Alex Albon continued our preview by adding: “I’m really looking forward to Suzuka, one of my favorite tracks, and of course the amazing Japanese fans.
“Australia was clearly not how we would have liked to go into games as a team and unfortunately it highlighted the journey we are on.
“However, the track team and back office at Grove really pulled together in an impressive way to fix the car and get it to the track on time, which we are all very grateful for.
Logan Sargeant concluded our look at Suzuka by sharing: “Australia was probably the toughest weekend I’ve ever faced as a driver and the same goes for the team.
“I really appreciate the fans who stick by us with their incredible support on the track and at home.
“I’m trying to put this difficult moment behind us, learn from it and continue to push together this season. I took the opportunity between races to head to Bali to stay sharp both mentally and physically, with plenty of time in the gym.
“I’m excited to be back in Japan so early in the season. Suzuka is iconic and is one of everyone’s favorite tracks on the calendar. I can’t wait to give it another go.”
