Security policy analyst Anthony Akwei has called for the arrest of Sammy Awuku, the national director of the National Lotteries Authority (NLA).

During a panel discussion on Peace FM, Awuku revealed that during elections, political operatives do not discriminate when soliciting votes and even reach out to individuals involved in criminal activities such as armed robbery. did.

Following Awuku’s confession, Anthony Akuei called for his immediate arrest.
He underlined the seriousness of Mr. Awuku’s statement and highlighted the impact of armed robbery, which often involves violence and loss of life.
“The first thing the Ghanaian police should do is arrest Sammy Awuku. After hearing his statement, he openly confessed that he knew the location and meeting point of the armed robbers. This is a serious issue because it poses a serious threat to public safety.
“By not disclosing this information to the police, Awuku is potentially aiding and abetting a criminal and should be treated as such under the law,” he said on TVXQ on May 16, 2024. said in an interview.
He argued that Awuku’s failure to inform the police about the identity and whereabouts of the armed robbers could amount to complicity in a criminal act.
“Given that a man of his caliber has publicly admitted that he knows the whereabouts of armed robbers, he should be arrested by the police.
“Even under our law, if you have information about an armed robber, you are obliged to report it to the police for arrest. Therefore, if he cannot identify himself to the police, he is also a criminal,” he said. added.
