He struggled to give examples and even went so far as to search on his phone.
The show’s host Captain Smart and co-guest Hopeson Addley denied his reference to the Sewaa Hospital project.
“Mahama built Sewia, he completed it and it has been left to rot in the bush,” Captain Smart said.
When Hopeson Adrie asked why Omari Wadi could not mention anything about the hospital projects in Agenda 111, Omari Wadi replied that some of these projects are scheduled to be operational in September 2024.
Captain Smart and Adorley concluded that the nuclear plant had in fact completed no such projects.
Adoriye also expressed dissatisfaction over Dr Bawumia’s recent promise to ensure the completion of Puwalugu Dam, a project that began in 2019.
Almost five years after President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo broke ground on the construction of the Puwalugu Multipurpose Dam project in the Talensi area of the Upper East Region, work on the much-touted project which began in November 2019 is yet to make any progress.
The Puwalgu dam project has been in the planning stages since the early 1960s, but lengthy planning periods and bureaucratic problems contributed to delays.
The ground-breaking ceremony in November 2019 was seen as a historic moment, but the lack of progress since has been disappointing.
The project, which is expected to be completed in about four years and two months, will be carried out by Sinohydro, China’s state-owned hydropower engineering and construction company.
Construction is urgently needed as areas within the Bagre Dam’s reach from upstream Burkina Faso experience flooding every year, resulting in deaths.
One of the main reasons for the delay is financial issues. Though the government has promised to fund the project, securing the required funds has proven difficult. The leader of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, admitted that financial constraints are a major stumbling block.
Dr Bawumia, who spoke at the launch of the Northern Development Authority’s five-year strategic plan in Tamale, said government would raise funds for the construction of the dam.
