The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration has announced that it will issue free Electronic Travel Authorisations (ETAs) to Ghanaians applying to travel to Kenya.
The initiative recognises the existing Visa Waiver Scheme agreement between Kenya and Ghana.
The ministry in a statement on Wednesday, June 19, advised Ghanaians planning to travel to Kenya to submit and get approved their ETA applications via almetakenya.go.ke before departure.
The ministry urged Ghanaians to take note of the new development when planning travel to Kenya.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration wishes to inform its citizens that it has recognised the existing Visa Waiver Agreement between the Republic of Kenya and the Republic of Ghana and has informed them that the Republic of Kenya will issue free Electronic Travel Authorisations (ETAs) to Ghanaian travellers upon application for travel to Kenya.”
“In that regard, Ghanaians planning to travel to Kenya will need to submit and get approved their ETA application via almetakenya.go.ke before departure. Travelers are advised to take note of this new development.”
An ETA, an entry permit into Kenya, is now free to obtain – previously travellers had to pay a fee for the document, but the new policy does away with that.
