An official of Ghana’s World Cup squad has been condemned by soccer fans who have taken to social media for a “shameless” act following the African’s thrilling World Cup win against South Korea. Mohammed Qudous scored twice Ghana beat the Koreans 3-2 in a wild encounter that keeps their World Cup hopes alive and leaves Paulo Bento’s Korea side facing an early exit.
Korea coach Bento was shown a red card after the final whistle following a heated confrontation with referee Anthony Taylor at the end of the match, with the Korean side complaining of a “lack of justice” after the referee did not let them take a corner.

South Korean captain Son Heung-min was in tears at the end, knowing the defeat leaves his sides hopes of advancing to the knockout stages on life support. Sean was seen being comforted by several players as he collapsed on the pitch with his head in his hands, seemingly inconsolable.
Despite the Korean superstar being clearly upset with the result and his nation’s World Cup dreams being dealt a brutal blow, a member of Ghana’s coaching staff saw fit to try and get a selfie with the Tottenham superstar . Sean was in no mood for a photo and turned away from the Ghanaian official, whose actions were circulated by fans on social media.
“Did that Ghana coach take a selfie with Sean? Shame really is free,” one user said on Twitter. Another added: “Nah wanting a selfie with Sean afterwards when he’s devastated is crazy.”
A third wrote: “Absolutely shameless from the Ghana coach taking a selfie while Sean was crying.”

South Korea assistant coach Sergio Costa explained after the game why Son was so upset and why Bento’s coach was so furious with the referee after the game. Kostas replied: “The reaction is a reaction of a man and a team that feels a lack of justice at the end of the match.
“It’s a normal reaction of someone who did everything he could to win and couldn’t do it. I think we should be sad and feel a lack of justice at the end of this fight. The result is completely unfair. Not even a draw was fair. We clearly deserved the victory.”
Explaining Bento’s outburst at the referee, Costa added: “It was to do with the fact that we thought a different criterion was used. In the first half, they let a similar situation play out and in the second half, when we had a chance for a corner, the referee let us have that chance.
“Paulo reacted, I was close and he didn’t say anything inappropriate about the referee. It was a lack of justice.” Bento will now miss his side’s final group game against his native Portugal.
Ghana won a five-goal thriller against Korea
Mohamed Salisu opened the scoring midway through the first half at the Education City Stadium and Ajax midfielder Quds doubled Ghana’s lead. However, Korea, who looked toothless in the first half, roared back after the break, equalizing a quick-fire double from striker Cho Gwe-Sung either side of the hour mark.
Ghana looked shell-shocked as the Korean fans celebrated wildly but were back in front in the 68th minute when Kudus calmly finished at the back post after team-mate Inaki Williams failed to connect with a cross from the left.
The result leaves Ghana second in Group H with three points, with South Korea just one point after an opening 0-0 draw against Uruguay. The Koreans face a final group stage match against Portugal on Saturday morning, knowing that only a win gives them any chance of qualification.
In other action, Brazil booked their place in the round of 16 with one group game to spare after beating Switzerland 1-0 in a tense and tight affair. Midfielder Casemiro scored the only goal of the game with a sumptuous drive into the top corner late in the second half to make it two wins from two for Tite’s men.
Meanwhile, Cameroonian Vincent Aboubakar came off the bench to rescue the Indomitable Lions by scoring a superb goal and setting up another as they held to a 3-3 draw with Serbia. The result in Doha kept both teams’ slim World Cup chances alive.
They each have a point and must win their final Group G games on Friday to have any chance of making it to the knockout stages. Cameroon face Brazil, who have already qualified, while Serbia face Switzerland, who have three points.
